Hi, I’m Luke from O’Brien Engineering. Welcome to Material Mondays, where we focus on one of our specialised materials from our extensive range.
Today, we’re taking a closer look at LaserTec – an exterior-grade laminate that you can purchase as a sheet. If needed, we can also cut it in-house to suit your specific requirements.
We offer both LaserPly and LaserTec, but LaserTec is a more robust, premium product designed specifically for external use. While LaserPly can be used outdoors, LaserTec provides superior durability and long-term performance in harsh environments.
You’d choose LaserTec because it features a high-quality, more resilient laminate layer that can withstand UV exposure, weather conditions, and heavy wear. It’s commonly used for solar farm asset tags, labels, signage, and other outdoor applications.
Designed for both rotary and laser engraving, LaserTec is available with or without adhesive backing, providing flexibility for different applications.
Much like our other laminates, we focus on core colour ranges that are widely used in the industry. These include:
- Yellow to black
- Red to white
- White to black
These colour combinations are essential for various engraving applications. Due to LaserTec’s robust coating, you may find that in some cases, you need to use dual passes to achieve a crisp, high-contrast result—whether it’s white to red, black to yellow, or any other combination.
